Analysis of measurement errors for a superconducting phase qubit

چکیده
We analyze several mechanisms leading to errors in a course of measurement of a superconducting fluxbiased phase qubit. Insufficiently long measurement pulse may lead to nonadiabatic transitions between qubit states 1 and 0 , before tunneling through a reduced barrier is supposed to distinguish the qubit states. Finite though large ratio of tunneling rates for these states leads to incomplete discrimination between 1 and 0 . Insufficiently fast energy relaxation after the tunneling of state 1 may cause the repopulation of the quantum well in which only the state 0 is supposed to remain. We analyze these types of measurement errors using analytical approaches as well as a numerical solution of the time-dependent Schrödinger equation.

Analysis of Bell inequality violation in superconducting phase qubits
We analyze conditions for violation of the Bell inequality in the Clauser-Horne-Shimony-Holt form, focusing on Josephson phase qubits. We start the analysis with maximum violation in the ideal case, and then take into account the effects of local measurement errors and decoherence. Special attention is paid to configurations of the qubit measurement directions in the pseudospin space lying with...
متن کاملTheoretical analysis of measurement crosstalk for coupled Josephson phase qubits
We analyze the crosstalk error mechanism in measurement of two capacitively coupled superconducting flux-biased phase qubits. The damped oscillations of the superconducting phase after the measurement of the first qubit may significantly excite the second qubit, leading to its measurement error. The first qubit, which is highly excited after the measurement, is described classically. The second...
متن کاملImplementation of adiabatic Abelian geometric gates with superconducting phase qubits
We have developed an adiabatic Abelian geometric quantum computation strategy based on the non-degenerate energy eigenstates in (but not limited to) superconducting phase-qubit systems. The fidelity of the designed quantum gate was evaluated in the presence of simulated thermal fluctuation in superconducting phase qubits circuit and was found to be rather robust against the random errors. In ad...
متن کاملUncollapsing of a quantum state in a superconducting phase qubit
We demonstrate in a superconducting qubit the conditional recovery (“uncollapsing”) of a quantum state after a partial-collapse measurement. A weak measurement extracts information and results in a non-unitary transformation of the qubit state. However, by adding a rotation and a second partial measurement with the same strength, we erase the extracted information, effectively canceling the eff...
متن کاملSuperconducting phase qubits
Experimental progress is reviewed for superconducting phase qubit research at the University of California, Santa Barbara. The phase qubit has a potential advantage of scalability, based on the low impedance of the device and the ability to microfabricate complex “quantum integrated circuits”. Single and coupled qubit experiments, including qubits coupled to resonators, are reviewed along with ...
